It's Looking like 8 Pups?

We had an x-ray done of Bailey's belly and the vet did a head count! It's looking like at least 7 pups, most likely 8, and there could be a 9th one hiding out somewhere! Have a look for yourself below. Check out the one in the bottom right, hanging at the bottom of the belly!

The puppies should be born some time between Thursday and Sunday this week. Stay tuned!

Something's Cookin' !!

Bailey is seven weeks pregnant at the moment - not too happy about the state of affairs based on how she looks in this photo from today!
       She is doing just fine - eating more and more each day and becoming more and more rotund!
       The sire is also a yellow Lab, so all the puppies will be yellow. We already have a list of people who would like pups.
       We expect the puppies to arrive around October 3 to 5th. We also do not know how many there will be. But... the buns are in the oven!

Luci!

Here's a new photo of Luci, one of Bailey's puppies from her first litter who lives up in Evergreen with Amy. Luci is now 18 months old.

New Pictures of Dakota

Every once in a while one of the owners of a puppy from Bailey's first litter sends us some photos of their dog. This is Dakota, now 16 months old. Thanks to Maddie for sending these along!

Looking Forward to Puppies!

As of the beginning of August we believe Bailey is "expecting!" A litter should arrive in early October. We will post more information in the coming weeks.

Preparing for Another Litter

Our plan is to breed Bailey in August when she goes into heat, which means she will probably have a litter in mid-October and the puppies will be ready for new homes in mid-December.
        Recently we had Bailey tested for Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC) which is a new test that breeders and the American Kennel Club recommend that you do to see if the dog is a carrier. We do not yet have the results. If Bailey is positive as a carrier of EIC we will only breed her with a stud who has been tested and is negative for EIC.
