Preparing for Another Litter

Our plan is to breed Bailey in August when she goes into heat, which means she will probably have a litter in mid-October and the puppies will be ready for new homes in mid-December.
Recently we had Bailey tested for Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC) which is a new test that breeders and the American Kennel Club recommend that you do to see if the dog is a carrier. We do not yet have the results. If Bailey is positive as a carrier of EIC we will only breed her with a stud who has been tested and is negative for EIC.

Wait! Stop! No Puppies Now!

This week we decided NOT to breed Bailey this Spring, for a number of reasons mainly due to a very busy that we have in the coming weeks. We will consider breeding Bailey in the Fall.

For Those Interested in Getting a Puppy!

This post is for people possibly interested in getting one of Bailey's puppies from an upcoming litter, likely to be born in May, 2013. If that is you please read on!
First, we are a family who breeds their dog once in a while. We are not a "puppy factory." So the puppies are socialized with people (children and adults) over the 8 weeks they are with us. We also work to house train them as best as possible.
Second, we care a whole lot where the puppies go, to ensure they are in a good home with people who are well prepared for a pup. So we ask a bunch of questions of potential buyers. Please do not be surprised by this.
Third, the mother and father are healthy dogs and have good ratings for their hips, elbows, and eyes (all OFA certified). Both parents are AKC as well.
Fourth, the cost of a puppy is $600. We ask people to give a $100 deposit when you request a puppy and we accept.
Lastly, we strongly suggest that you NOT come and check out the puppies if you are not sure you can have one. Trust us, each and every puppy is as cute and cuddly as can be! We have never seen an ugly Lab puppy, and we have seen a fair number of them. Come to check out the puppies only if you are certain you want one.
Thanks, and we look forward to hearing from you.

A Bailey Christmas Update

Bailey the Wonder Dog has been traveling with us over the holiday season. She has largely been chilling out, doing some reading, and relaxing.
She is in the "pre-heat" season of life. We hope to breed her in late March and for her to have puppies in late May. This means the pups will be ready for their new homes at the end of July 2013.
